This exercise helps arms and back! Core tight. Pull the rope to your face. These are literally called face pulls. Let your shoulders and back do all the work. Heavy weight, 12-15 reps, 3 sets.

This workout defines your triceps (muscles on the back side of your arm). It is important to keep your arms straight and tight aside from your forearms. Core tight. You want your forearms to do all the work. Do as much weight as you can do that 12-15 reps hurt. A few seconds of rest in between, done 3 times! Not much else to this one.

This is an exercise I need to use more often. I carry a lot of fat naturally in my upper thighs and butt. This will tighten up the area right below your butt cheeks as well as your hamstrings. Notice how they bulge when I pull up on the weight? I do this exercise with a lot of weight. Same as last post, enough to hurt after 12-15 reps. Rest a few seconds, then go back. 3 times. I have the foot part high because I have bad knees and don’t want to hyperextend, but if you’re able to, set it lower. Always make sure you’re adjusting machines to your height. I’m 5’2” and tend to use machines on the small setting. This exercise will help the backs of your thighs and your butt!

This exercise is the exact opposite of the last. Core tight. I use a heavy weight here (whatever I need to set it to so that when I hit 12-15 reps it’s starts to hurt) then I’ll rest a few seconds and start back up. I do this exercise 3 times. This will help with your “saddle bags” or if you are thin, it will help to make your hips appear wider. Secondarily, you can feel this in your butt as well.

I work a lot on my legs and use almost every leg machine there is and try to do a little bit of leg/butt workouts every time I go to the gym. Again, a tight core is essential. This exercise defines the insides of your thighs. I don’t want to build muscle there, so I do light weight with a lot of repetition (until it hurts/my legs can’t handle it anymore). I do this three times with a short 10-15 second break in between.

I don’t know what this is called but this is a workout I almost always do when I go to the gym. I used to do it with no weight when my back wasn’t as strong. Now, I use a 25lb weight. I can feel this exercise in my lower back and my butt. It is important to keep your core tight. Your core tends to try to makeup for the other parts of your body that have a hard time pulling the weight. This is true for almost any workout, so it’s important to always keep your core engaged, causing your other muscles to pull the weight instead. This exercise will add muscle to the top portion of your butt and will give you definition in your lower back.

First part of my workout routine: I always warm up with cardio. I used to use a treadmill but it didn’t do much for building muscle so I started using the stair steeper. This will build muscle in your thighs and butt while getting your body ready to work out. I go between 5-15 mins.
