It seems like a subtle thing, but open vs closed hip position can completely overhaul the feeling of a pose. Squaring the hips to the front of the mat is a deep stretch into the hip flexor and psoas, whereas opening the hips to the long edge of the mat can stretch the hip adductors (inner thigh muscles)... and of course make the booty pop like this ππ

Before you handstand, you can practice loading up your shoulders in pike! Rising up on the toes & shifting your weight forward will help strengthen the shoulders for eventually bearing your full body weight π

If the full splits aren't in your practice, a really juicy way to open up the front hamstring and work your way there is the (intuitively named) half-split posture! If you want to take it further and fold over your front leg, make sure to keep the spine straight to protect your lower back π
