Staying Healthy Sunday today is all about Meal Prep for a strong start on Monday - with food all ready to go. You can mix and match with 30-40g of protein, 40g of carbs and 8-10g of fat for each meal x 5 meals a day. I eat these 5 meals with 3 hrs in between each meal, starting at 8am, for metabolism boosting. Of course, everyone’s body is different and you should customize to what food works for you & what proportions you need (1g of protein per pound of body weight per day is recommended). I used to cook wings and mac-n-cheese and honey buns & all kinds of food I can no longer eat now that I have the Hashimoto’s medical diagnosis. I’ve had to eliminate grains, dairy, nightshades, eggs, sugar, gluten & most nuts & seeds. It’s extensive, so I don’t expect anyone without this diagnosis to think this food looks delicious, but it’s practical and it keeps me fed, and I’m grateful for a chance to be healthy even if it means saying goodbye to all my favorite food. As a mother, my health is very important to me, and hopefully this helps someone else with some ideas too. ❤️

My 🔶Thursday Thoughts🔶 have been focused on art instead of news today. I have been working hard on this piece all week and just finished it tonight. I haven’t titled it and usually don’t show my work immediately after it’s done (I like to sit back and absorb it for a few days and reflect before titling and sharing with others). But, I wanted to give you something tonight even though my brain is too tired to sift through the news. The moody shadow lighting of the new Batman movie really resonated with me and influenced this piece. I’ve always been drawn to light and shadow as well as asymmetrical composition balance and an evocation of solitude or bleakness. Images with these qualities don’t make me feel sad, but instead make me feel a sense of comfort in the acknowledgment of the tension and survival in life, against the odds. This is made with hundreds of small pieces of cut paper from dozens of sources, adhered with an archival adhesive to a poplar wooden panel. I’ll be brush varnishing this tomorrow.

I’m gaining back my strength after being sick for two weeks, but I’m super excited to hit 1 PR on the Leg Press this week. 🥳 If you’re wanting to build your legs, you can jot down these movements, reps & weight & sets and try it out at your gym! 5min on the treadmill to warm up, 20min back on the treadmill for a steady state (do the longer cardio after your strength training). It’s S.H.S. ~ Staying Healthy Sunday! How fitting that this was my first day in 2 weeks feeling fully well. Yay! I wanted to share 3 of the products that I use when trying to boost my immune system. If you have an autoimmune diagnosis like me, I’m sure you are familiar with the frustration of a cold or flu lingering longer than it does for “most” people, and the ibuprofen, thetaflu, acetaminophen stuff, DayQuil, NyQuil, Vicks, and other dozens of over-the-counter pharmacy treatments that work for “everyone” else just don’t make a dent at all with the symptoms for me. I grew up picking black elderberries (they grew wild on the mountain where I was born), and they are great for immune support. Try a syrup like Zarabee’s instead of gummies, it absorbs faster. The fizzy Emergen-C drink is great made with hot water to sip on for a sore throat throughout the day, and PURE energy packets are the best natural energy supplement I’ve found that don’t make me shaky or hyper but actually stimulate clear thinking and focus when working in the midst of sickness - or even when well but just tired. Definitely lots of water is a universal must when you’re sick, but every body has unique supplement needs, so do what works for YOU & gives you results. Monday Motivation ✅ is BACK!! Felt so good to be in the gym after 10 days 😭. This video is twice as long as usual & in regular time (no filters, no sped up timing, no sound block), so you get the real deal full effect of my Integrated Leg Day. Do 3 sets of all movements, resting/breathing for 90sec in between each set. I walk on the treadmill afterward for 30min to get in some cardio/steps. Enjoy moving your body in some way today ❤️ ~ my goal is to serve twice the length of content on everything this week to make up for last week, so we’ll see how that goes. 😊

I am incredibly grateful for my wellness coach and also super proud of myself for achieving the fitness level I have over the past year, especially with the challenges of hypothyroidism and having to avoid ALL the food that causes inflammation (gluten, grains, nightshades, sugar, alcohol, dairy, & more).
