Overall, a pretty decent day. It's POURING here! I took the liberty to do a double workout (yay!)....need to keep this ass tight ;) What else is on my mind? Let's talk sports! Hum...I somehow have NO interest in basketball this year. I'm not sure why....first time of my life (being a fan since the first few years of Lowry and Derozan) that I'm experiencing a below average Raptors team. Plus I have so many other hobbies. I don't want to watch something where I have more than 50% odds of losing....when I could do so many other fun things instead. They get the millions of dollars even after a losing season....I don't get my 3 hours back each night LOL! Hockey? No thanks. Haven't been interested in it for years...and I'm not about to start! I do know a lot about college football this year. My dad is really into it, and some of my friends are too. I didn't watch a game yet, but I have seen most of the highlights (thanks to the Deion Sanders phenom!) I think that's about it for my sports recap! Oh and yes, I do know what is going in the MLB playoffs race...and while I know the popularity of the sport grew this year, it didn't convince me to watch the playoffs either! Sorry....you'll have to deal with my lingerie and my boobs while I game....or I can blow your dick while you watch a game (which I've done a few times! LOL) Anyhow, I need to make dinner! Update: Seems I was playing with the arcade stick, while originally it was a trackball game. The shooting part is MUCH harder with the trackball....and honestly not sure I enjoy it more with the trackball. You know I freaking love trackball games usually....but not this time. I heard a lot of good things about Golden Axe. Heck, even Arcade1Up released a Golden Axe cabinet. I've tried it yesterday and....I wasn't in love with that game. Gave up after one stage. Just not my cup of tea. I decided to try a more obscure title: Combat School. And to my HUGE surprise, it was a LOT of fun. I didn't expect it to be so much fun....I was intrigued but wasn't expecting much from this 1987 game. But gosh....I kept trying again and again. You never know which more obscure title can be a lot of fun. It's a basic game, sure...but who cares! It's enjoyable! The control panel consists of a trackball and two buttons with different functions depending on the event. The game can be played against a CPU-controlled opponent or a second player. Player 1 takes control of Nick, a brown-haired recruit in an orange shirt, while Player 2 is Joe, a blond-haired recruit in a blue shirt. The game is composed of seven training events whom the player must complete. Upon a near-success failure to complete an event (failing too severely results in game over), the player must do a set number of chin ups as punishment (this chance is given only once) in order to continue into the succeeding events, or it's game over. ***COM'ON....chin ups by mashing up a button? How can you hate that game!*** The events are as follows: Obstacle Course – Set in a side-scrolling segment, the player must reach the end of the stage under the allotted time while climbing walls and clearing bars. Losing to the CPU or to one another does not mean game over as long as the players cross the finish line within the allotted time. ***This reminded me of Track & Field arcade*** Shooting Range No. 1 – The player must shoot as many targets as possible under the allotted time. If played against a second player, then the one who shoots the most targets win. ***Reminded me of Cabal*** Iron Man Race – Similar to the obstacle course, but set in a top view angle. The player must reach the goal while avoiding mines and other obstacles. Eventually the player must cross a lake by either swimming or rowing a boat. Losing to the CPU or to one another does not mean game over as long as the players cross the finish line within the allotted time. ***That was fun LOL I kept trying to drown the CPU, haha I loved it*** Shooting Range No. 2 – Same as the first one, but now with moving targets. ***This REALLY has a Galaga vibe and you know I say this as a compliment*** Arm Wrestling – The two recruits are pitted against each other in a match of strength and stamina. This is more like a bonus stage than an actual course: the player is not penalized for losing. In the arcade version, if both players are graduated, before the mission, the two players must face each other in an extra arm wrestling round in order to determine who will win and play the mission. Only the victor is allowed to play the mission. ***Yeah....never won a single Arm Wrestling match. Still trying to figure that out*** Shooting Range No. 3 – The third and final shooting range stage features penalty targets. Fighting – The player faces his instructor in hand-to-hand combat in the final event. There is no make-up punishment in this event; if a player loses, it is game over no matter what. In the home-computer versions, if played with a second player, then the two players must fight each other. Only the victor is allowed to graduate. After all seven events are cleared, the player graduates from basic training only to be sent on a mission (the 8th and final stage) to rescue the U.S. President from armed terrorists. The final stage consists of a single side-scrolling level where the player must fight off terrorists using all the skills acquired during the course of training. This stage can only be played by one player. Without a continue feature or spare stocks of lives, and because the player dies with one hit (minus the part that pits the player in a hand-to-hand combat against the terrorist leader) from anything, the final stage is extremely difficult to clear. ***The only downside of that game? I wish it would be longer or there would be more levels!!! Like the shooting range ones or the obstacle courses? MOREEEEE!!!!!*** Made by Konami in 1987/1988....easy to play on Mame....GAME ON! Whether you like Jennifer Lawrence as an actress or not you've got to admit that she makes bold moves in her career. She doesn't just rest for the easy money that comes with franchises and romantic comedies. Her filmography is very diverse. And Red Sparrow is the perfect example. It had pretty horrible reviews...but I LOVED IT! From the first minute to the very last 5 minutes...I had NO idea how the movie would end. And god, it doesn't happen that often anymore. I had my doubts, but each time, they would draw me back into wondering... "what if..."! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, thinking it's one of the best films I've seen this year. It was a bit cruel, but had great action scenes. Very good performance by Jennifer and also a good plot twist. In my opinion it had everything a fantastic nervewrecking movie should have. Don't hate on the mini details (where it's shot, the hair etc.) And be careful with the t0rture / pain scenes...ugh some of those were INTENSE! (in a good but a painful way lol) Definitely worth watching. And even better than that...it takes the FIRST place in my Jennifer Lawrence movie marathon. Updated list: 1- Red Sparrow 2- No Hard Feelings 3- Silver Linings Playbook Up next? Not sure I will have time to watch one tonight.... but if I do, I'm thinking to watch Serena. It's another pairing of Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. Will they impress me more than with Silver Linings Playbook? I decided to start a quest where I'd watch all the movies by Jennifer Lawrence. I started with No Hard Feelings, which I thought was amazing. Then, I decided to watch Silver Linings Playbook. It was released 10 years ago, and was nominated for a bunch of Oscars back then. My expectations were HIGH. God, the first half of this movie is BORING. I was expecting something more light hearted and funny (based on the trailer). However, the second half of the movie was its redemption. A Christmas scene to end it? You know how to get me! Still, Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro and Jennifer Lawrence make a great team in this movie. It does a great job at depicting what it's really like to live with mental illness. It makes the characters feel so relatable because they are relatable. Apparently, the book is even better. I won't read it! LOL I had enough of the movie. I see why some people may absolutely be in love with it. But to me? It was okay, nothing more, nothing less. Up next? I'm thinking about Red Sparrow tonight. This one had horrible critics but Jennifer Lawrence is some sort of sex spy in it. HELL YA! Will keep you posted ;) Updated rankings of JL movies: 1. No Hard Feelings 2.
