johnny panic and the bible of dreams by silvia plath
well i was sadly kinda disappointed in this. i mean her writing is as amazing as ever but most of the plots of the stories just didn’t interest me. i found myself enjoying rereading the selected journal entries the most. loved the title story tho. it feels blasphemous saying this but most of them bored me. sunday at the milton’s bout gave me a heart attack tho so i’m not saying it’s all boring. maybe one day i’ll reread it when i’m a changed person and change my mind but for now i find most of this ,,, mid. 6.5/10
sat down to film a video and it ended up being an hour long 😭 it was another video for adam and eve and they sent me so much stuff this time ! (i mean, they always spoil me, but this time was crazy) took me an hour to try on all the lingerie and try out the toys ! i didn’t even get to one; it’s gonna be it’s own video ! i’m so excited to take a bunch of pics with the lingerie for you and to keep using these toys in videos too! it’ll be out on the hub by the end of the month 🤩
no book review today because i’ve had a migraine so bad i couldn’t open my eyes let alone read 😭 see you on tuesday with the next one 📖 here’s a sweet lil throwback to 2018
the unabridged journals of silvia plath
yeah these probably shouldn’t have ever been published and the profits definitely shouldn’t have gone to ted hughes. fuck ted hughes; all my homies hate ted hughes. i could say so much about this, but what’s the point when it’ll never come out as beautiful as her own words. she writes so well that it both inspires and descourages me. 8/10 but so many sections are 10/10. for those of you who watch my vlogs you’ll be getting to see a lot of this book in an upcoming one. also just in case you didn’t already know, she is pretty xenophobic, so both her journals and her fiction contain microaggressions
💐if anyone wants to pay for todays trip to barnes and noble dm me and i’ll show you my long ass receipt hahhahaha i’m too pretty to pay for my own books
this is my best pillow humping video so far! i turned on some male moaning and that really got me going. then by the end i found the perfect poistion / angle for both me and you and i came super hard ! this orgasm probably looks phony because of how intense it was and how dramatic i am but you should know me well enough to tell its real hehehe.
honestly guys the lack of sex has been driving me feral lately. i might die. might have to get sent to the seaside with some opiates and a vibrator to treat my histeria. might start rabidly foaming at the mouth idk. cuckoo
meditations marcus aurelius
rip marcus aurelius you would of loved the tao te ching. i mean, it was already written hundreds of years before you were born, but it seems like you were real focused on the greeks and all. this really is a very taoist text in bits. sometimes he’s more platonist or buddhist, and of course most the times he’s ~stoic~, but stoicism and taoism have a lot of overlap. rip marcus aurelius you would have loved winnie the pooh.
he talks a lot about how everything in nature is good, but then after i put the book down, two seconds later i come into contact with a poisonous plant and break out in painful hives for hours. i guess it’s ~good~ for the plant to be poisonous and the good of the spider is not the good of the fly and all that, BUT he also kept preachin to me that nothing natural can hurt me and that shit hurted. i guess i’m just suppose to be so stoic about it and not let it hurt my mind. he did say that things that happen to the body are meaningless so i guess it works. i don’t agree when he says things like that anger is unnatural; that’s where the stoics always lose me, stifling feelings.
rip marcus aurelius you would have hated that your journals with unfinished thoughts is out here being retranslated over and over again. at least i would. imagine if my notes app notes got published posthumously. id kill myself all over again. i stopped keeping diaries after mine got stolen out of my car by a guy who r worded me. not on my silvia plath shit anymore.(i say while i am currently reading her journals)
here are my top three quotes “the best revenge is not being like that” “keep the spirit inside you undamaged, as if you might have to give it back at any moment” and “the gods live forever and yet they don't seem annoyed at having to put up with human beings and their behavior throughout eternity. and not only put up with but actively care for them. and you on the verge of death-you still refuse to care for them, although you're one of them yourself.” i actually have a shit ton of criticism of this book and of stoicism in general but i know a lot of you on here are super into it so i i’ll leave it alone. 7.5/10
alias grace margaret atwood
love margaret atwood, love historical fiction, love an unreliable narrator, so obviously i loved this. atwood is already a naturally talented writer and this being her 30th book her skills were so refined by this point that there’s no way she could fuddle it. based off of the story of grace marks in the 1840s. all this accidental reading i’ve been doing of feminine historical fiction has got me back into needlework oops. 8.5/10
these four winds kristin hannah
guess who read another depression era historical fiction with a heavy emphasis on labor rights ? i swear i’m not doing it on purpose. didn’t love her writing which is to be expected when my aunt lends me a book. the mother daughter stuff made me sob on multiple occasions. i thought all the dust bowl stuff she wrote well but once she got to the leftist political stuff she seemed undereducated and out of her element. it seemed like she was trying to combine steinbeck's grapes of wrath with in dubious battle which is a great concept but the execution was lacking. skip this one and just read steinbeck. this made me want a commie boyfriend hardened from police beatings but soft for me :,) 5/10 overall but 10/10 character development
