I spent the day cleaning the house. My sister and I have been in a stand-off the last few years bickering over the equity in household chores. Generally, growing up, I did all the cleaning, even cleaning her room for her well into our adulthood. It took a lot of growing to learn how to stop doing things for other people that they can and SHOULD be doing for themselves.
Today, I let that all go. I cleaned everything. The windows, floors, microwave, dishes, and I even deep cleaned the fridge. It was a gift to have her come home to a clean house and see her smile. It’s like I said, if I can’t be happy, maybe I can help others to be.
I haven’t gotten to my messages yet, just a few I read this morning. I chose to clean the house for my sister instead. The outpouring of love I’ve received in the messages I saw is too much to put into words. I’m humbled and honestly, slightly embarrassed. I didn’t post the life update to garner sympathy. It’s just the truth of my life recently. Saying it all out loud and releasing it to the world has helped. Thank you for letting me share my life with you and for holding space for me.
