Photography in the church can be real challenge and only few do it good. That is why in many churches are photographers banned! Follow me for tricks how to get the most beautiful photos in hardest conditions and not damaging people's experience in the process.
1) make sure your camera has disabled focus confirmation beep or well any other noise it might have set on from factory
2) preferably do not use flash unless you really have to
3) use your lens wide open to get most light in
4) get a cheap prime lens with big aperture. 50mm f1.8 or 35mm f1.8 on smaller cameras works best in my experience.
5) professional lenses with f1.4 give you even more light but depth is so shallow and is way harder to focus then on f1.8 of f2. Often they are not even as sharp as the cheap f1.8 lenses
6) keep your distance to not disturb the event, but during the kiss and rings come closer. Very often relative with a camera would jump in front of you and you will lose your shot
7) move calm and preferably when there is commotion anyway.
Good luck and if your first wedding gig is coming up, ask questions!
