I help those who have cancer to mourn the loss of who they were (we write letters to each other). In part, it helps them see that while cancer may define who they are now, it will eventually become just a part of their lives. It can strengthen their sense of purpose or open the door to new possibilities of who they can be. Being diagnosed with cancer, I was also looking for an understanding of what my life would be like during and after treatment.
Some of you remember my story, I wrote about it once, but then deleted the account because I wanted to cross it all out. But it doesn't work that way, you can't forget yourself.

Five years ago, the diagnosis of metastatic melanoma was a verdict, and not deferred, the bill was going on for months. Now these patients live for years.
Instead of being constantly afraid and terrified, it's better to go to the hospital and check if there really is a reason for fear. There is one simple thing: all victories and defeats come from our head. What we will come up with for ourselves, with what force we will fantasize about this or that topic, we will get that result. Make it a rule to have an annual full-fledged medical examination. Take care of yourself and your loved ones.
