So after 4 months in Sri Lanka we’re going home to Portugal next week. We made this decision for a few reason but here’s why we definitely can’t stay here anymore:
Some of you may have seen this in the news but Sri Lanka is currently going through its worst economic crisis ever. There is no gas, no petrol, exams have been canceled for all students because the country can’t afford paper, riots in the capital of Colombo, etc. What is impacting us the most as « digital nomads » and freelancers are the power cuts, they happen everyday and sometimes up to 13 hours per day. And when the power goes out the 4G goes out as well so most times this will make working close to impossible. Although we loved our stay here this is starting to really impact our ability to keep sharing as much as we want with you here. On top of that yesterday I woke up to a completely unresponsive MacBook Pro, it wouldn’t even turn on… We’re of course nowhere near anything resembling an Apple Store but I found a local repair shop an hour away and the guy is currently running its diagnostic.
We currently have three amazing videos that are waiting to be edited to be shared with you here! Guys! Great news: they managed to fix my computer! I got it back yesterday so we're going to be able to finish all those videos we shot and post them here for you shortly :)
Like I mentioned in the previous post we thought the computer was dead and so resorted to shoot a video on my phone kind of thinking "it's really not optimal but at least we'll be able to have something new for OF". BUT It turns out we really loved shooting with our phone and we think the video is super sexy. There was something so hot about being able to record the sex with a "camera" so small and unobtrusive that we could just focus 100% on the act. And I actually kind of like the lofi / homemade look of the final video, I feel like you can really be in the moment with us when you watch it, it's super intimate.
Anyway, we're very happy to be able to go back to our usual "big camera / heavy post process on the computer" style of videos but we also might shoot more on the phone in the future. Let's us know what you think about that and if you'd enjoy seeing more of that style!
As promised here’s a little life update now that we’re back in Portugal! We’re very sorry that content has been slow lately, the cabin after the winter needed a lot of work done. Not only a massive spring cleaning but also, after living in all these beautiful spaces for months in Sri Lanka, we felt we needed a big change. A new design that would keep us inspired to create beautiful content.
So along with other less inspiring chores (legal appointments, declaring taxes, etc) we’ve been working non stop on rethinking and building this new room. We have also made plans to expand the cabin and make new spaces for the kitchen and bathroom but that will be for later this year.
For now we’re almost done and excited to get back to work for you guys, we have a ton of videos from back in Sri Lanka that we can’t wait to edit and share with you!
