I went to Japan last year with super long hair and this year with short hair, I feel like I got sooo many stares this year w/short hair for some reason… and I guess cuz maybe shorter hair is the beauty standard there… I was also worried I would drive people away with tattoos too! (Since there is a stigma around them in Japan) When I had my solo days away from friends or even with friends, esp since we stayed near the hotspots like Shibuya shinjuku etc, I noticed a lot of stares so much so that I felt good but also like awkward?? LOLOL maybe it’s just in my head 😭 Actually when I was having dinner with a friend, this tipsy man came up to me and asked me if my tattoo goes all the way down my back and I was like haha no, I was actually worried if my tattoo was offending him, but he said ”sugoi” (which means awesome) lmaooo, and also this other man stopped me on the street and said something along the lines of “suki” which means “like?”, and I said I didn’t speak Japanese and he looked shocked and kinda embarrassed and walked away? Lmaoo so this trip has got me thinking like wow am I… a ten out of ten in Japan?!
