So last Tuesday I noticed that I had a blind spot in the lower right corner of my eye, just a black spot full of nothingness. I was going blind in my left eye and had no idea why.
Wednesday, The blind spot was slightly bigger. I went to a number of eye doctors including a specialist, I found out that I had a detached retina I needed emergency surgery ASAP.
Thursday was yet another day of me running back-and-forth from doctors, getting an EKG, and just prepping for surgery. The blind spot once again was bigger, it wasn’t the corner of my eye anymore but almost the center of my vision.
Friday the 29th I went in and got my surgery, I was terrified this is the first surgery I ever had in my life and it was on such an important place, my eye. As if getting a surgery on your eye wasn’t scary enough, I woke up in the middle of the surgery and was awake till the end, I felt them stabbing at my eye, Commenting, and throwing around medical terms. The surgery went well and I went home, I was in so much pain.
Friday, October 30, my birthday, I got to go back to the hospital again and get my bandages off, I wore a happy birthday pin which made the doctors and nurses both laugh at my sense of humor and also feel bad for me at the same time. By no means was it an amazing birthday, but I’m very grateful that I have my sight back and that I had such supportive friends and family around me.
My eye is currently healing and still in a rough bit of shape, so any posts I make I will have an eyepatch/small bandage on. If I waited about a day later to get my eye checked I could’ve had permanent blindness in my left eye, luckily it did not make it to the center of my eye. With some time the blind spots I have will disappear. ❤️🩹
Thank you to all my followers who were still so supportive of me and checked in on me! ❤️🩹
