**Merry Christmas!** ๐ Yes, you hear that right ๐ and no, Iโm not drunkk ๐ (despite the heaps of wine and cherry liqueur - ะฒะธัะฝัะฒะบะฐ) I had today ๐๐ท Today is the **Orthodox Christmas**, which is the one observed by my mumโs side of the family ๐ฅฐ so we visited my grandparents and had an elaborate traditional feast prepared by my grandmother โค๏ธ There was: - **ั ะพะปะพะดะตั** ๐ฒ maybe the weirdest dish out of them all for the non-familiars. Itโs a garlicky soup that sets as a jelly and a true master is meant to achieve this without any additional gelatine, simply due to the cartilageous meat used for it (e.g. roosterโs crest or pig skin) - **chicken in dough** ๐ my grandmaโs special! chicken thighs and wings cooked inside a crispy dough dome. My dad jokes that the reason he married my mum is to be able to have this at least once a year at Christmas (and if heโs lucky at Easter too) - **ะณะพะปัะฑัั** ๐ฅฌ more common around the world as vine leaves - and an array of pickles, including **pickled watermelon** ๐ home made noodles, roasted potatoes and other delicious things I adore and always look forward to Of course, this was also topped up by a lovely cheese platter to honour our French side too ๐ Overall I had a beautiful day to mark the end of my stay home as Iโm leaving tomorrow ๐ฅบ I am a bit sad about this of course, but on the bright side, this means a return to more *traditional* posts ๐๐
