So, the other night at Universal the Kong ride shut down about 1.5 minutes in. The interesting thing is right before we boarded our “tour bus” we hear the overhead announcer say that the ride was now “fully functional” so we didn’t think anything of it. Obviously rides at major theme parks break down all the time. BUT, our ride broke down near the beginning and we waited patiently for about 5 minutes or so before the announcement came over the PA that the ride was as no longer operational and we would have to be evacuated (literally). We waited to 15+ minutes as they shut everything down and turned on the warehouse lights to see that we were on a track at least 10 feet off the ground. As such, we had to wait until the park operations team wheeled a mobile staircase to our bus to evacuate us one row and one person at a time. In my mind I was thinking, “what if there had been a fire? We couldn’t have waited for the corporate protocol of evacuating one bus at a time, one row at a time, one person at a time 10 feet off the ground!” But alas, there was no such emergency. So even when they told us to “put our phones away” D and I couldn’t help but snap a photo with the King himself as we got a front row walking tour of Skull Island: Reign Of Kong unexpectedly! They tried to make up for the inconvenience by giving us express passes, but it was the last 2 hours the park was open and we had already paid per ticket to have the express passes all day. So we decided to pay it forward and we found a newly engaged couple to give our passes to and it totally made the end of their day 🥰 And in all fairness, we had gone on this 4D ride successfully earlier in the day so we really got to round out our experience with this snafu *AND* it lead us to perfect timing to close the night with Hargrid’s Motorbike ride *AT NIGHT IN THE FRONT BIKE 😳❤️*. There’s always a silver lining my friends! Naughty night! Xo ~BG & D
