The last thing you see is her gentle smile. “Sleep well… I’ll think of you while you’re on your way down to safety”, … everything goes black. Scrunching your face, you groan a little and roll over, feeling hard earth beneath your body. Opening your eyes, you can see the day break, and realize you’re back in the alcove you ducked into originally as the snowstorm had begun. Sitting up fast, you look wildly around you - the blankets, the big round cave and the woman were gone. Rubbing your eyes, you wonder to yourself, “was that just a dream…?” You look outside and the rising sun reveals that the overnight snowfall was massive - it’s even a wonder you made it through the night, considering you really weren’t prepared to make it through that kind of cold … It must have been a dream, although definitely the most vivid and sweet dream you’ve ever had. Raising your hand to your cheek, you swear you can still feel the warmth of her lips … when your eyes catch a glimpse of a single candle, nearly burned out, tucked against a rock in the alcove.
