Added 2021-01-24 16:39:54 +0000 UTCOk, so last night and this morning I've been a little loud about FOSTA, SESTA, and EARN IT Act, it's something I've been trying to tackle for years but I keep having platforms pulled out from under me so I never really get any momentum. But that won't stop me from occasionally re-centering my focus. Activism has been a core aspect of sex work for as long as sex work has been around. It would be a disservice to all sex workers, now, and before us, to stand by and do nothing. Before SIESTA was shut down I listed resources in my bio. They're still there and still relevant even though SIESTA died. It will come back, along with even more harmful legislation, so long as fosta/sesta/earn it are still here. TOS, and social media purges are the smaller downside to this legislation, legal and consensual SW is being labeled as trafficking, wasting real resources, and providing actual trafficker a fog to hide behind. Let's not forget about the invasion of privacy and the backdoor into out behavioral data that the US military wants for the sake of 'national security' meaning you're dick pick in the dms or just having BLM in your bio could warrant probable cause for an investigation. I know all of you are here to sate your sexual appetites, not politics and I may sound like an alarmist, but these are very serious issues that involve all of us. Even if you arent based in the US. If you write your reps, sign petitions, and/or share resources, I will reward you! I will honor this for as long as this legislation exists. The reward is negotiable, but I ask that you reflect on why it takes a reward for you to get involved in the first place. I know I am not the best adult content creator out there, but who ever your favorite is is also impacted by this legislation, and while they may not be making noise or giving hand outs to anyone who helps, I am. And I hope that influences you. Thank you for taking the time to hear me out. Once again, I have resources listed in my bio. I don't always have the spoons for activism, so I get it if it's hard for you. But activism is not supposed to be comfortable or glamorous. If it is, it's probably just capitalism masquerading as activism. And if you're into books, consider picking up The Age of Surveillance Capitalism by Zuboff, she doesn't talk about fosta/sesta but it is very relevant to that legislation and to anyone who uses big tech. Also Mindfuck by Wylie, who again doesn't talk about fosta/sesta but it's still relevant. Remember that it's was trumps cabinet that pushed this legislation, I recognize this legislation as a smokescreen to hide and protect real predators which very well may include trump as well as other international political figures. Ok lol I'm ranting now 😬 but for real, take this issue seriously. Get informed and get involved.
