What is it about the booty that is so wonderful? When I think about our innate identity, I can very clearly see sexuality, but it takes no firm shape. Our sexuality is fluid and amorphous. We either allow ourselves to explore the feelings and emotions we experience or we don't and we submit to an identity provided to us by our social culture. I wonder how many cist/het/mono identifying people chose that role, where conditioned into that roll, and the intersection of those identities to familial trauma. I think about how gender express has changed throughout human history, across the planets landscape, and over the ages. I think about the age of antiquity, the Roman's, and Kush, and how even then we had global trade, and the exchange and appropriation of culture. I think about ancient artworks and how they glorify fat bodies and celebrate sexuality. I think about diet culture, and thin super models. I think about not that long ago women used to say "do these jeans make my ass look fat" with a different connotation. How some people only want fat in some parts of their body but not on other areas, a flat tummy with a big ass and big tits. Or no fat and just completely ripped. And then I think about how the strongest man in the world has a tummy. Sometimes I long for the ancient and natural world, and resent the new modernity. I wish I could go back with a warning of everything that went wrong. But thats the kind of healing that can only exist in literature, in the myriad of worlds we build inside ourselves. An imperfect solution that can only explore the theory of what our world would look like had the industrial revolution never happened. What humans would roam this land, and what would they call themselves? Would this be a post racial society? I don't know if that's possible, but clearly they would have some form of identity. What would their sexuality and gender expression look like? How much of us is truely us, and how much is just... situational?
