A lot of you might not know this, but my very first internship was at an entertainment company in NYC. It was there I realized that instead of creating things, I was expected to fit into the corporate world—which was so tough for me (especially for an immigrant like me lol)
After that experience, I decided to focus on hands-on projects instead. I started freelancing, building websites, and running digital ads. About a year ago, one of my old clients from freelancing jobs offered me an opportunity to launch a Shopify business with her. While it didn’t become wildly successful, it broke even—and the lessons I learned were far more valuable than anything I could’ve learned in a classroom.
