I finally got the chance to meet up with a professionally trained shibari master. He’s been nothing but respectful and kind to me as I navigate this world and discover what I do and don’t like. Little did I know how much training is needed for both parties to properly do traditional Japanese shibari. I feel blessed to be working with someone who has trained under a master in Japan and is constantly refining his skills. Today he had me over for our first session, starting with a massage to help loosen my body before he took me down to his dungeon to try suspension for the first time. Turns out it hurts, a lot!! Shocker, right?? Regardless of the pain and the realization that I am also not as much of a masochist as I thought, I was having fun. I love the challenge of trying to overcome the pain and work through it. Personally I think it’s healthy to be able to tolerate uncomfortable situations and learn how to manage pain I look forward to continuing to learn more about this world and how much I can handle 😈
