My page is a place to be more personal so I'm sharing an ongoing issue that makes me sad. In the summer, my main harp, my prized possession, developed a crack in the neck. Sadly, the man who made my harps died a few years ago, just as he entered the prime of his craftsmanship. Unfortunately he is no longer around to maintain his harps. Two of my harps had structural issues that needed addressing.
I brought my harps to an instrument maker who learned from the man who originally made my harps. He launched an extensive repair job which revealed further issues and several other fractures occurred over the course of his work.
I paid this man an enormous amount of money for the jobs and brought my harps home, only to discover that the sound has been essentially destroyed. The body, the tone, the richness is all gone. What remains almost sounds like a toy. I can't lie, I am devastated.
I have some leads about where to go from here and I am hopeful that the sound can be restored. Luckily, I still have one harp that has no issues.
Thanks always for your support. I would not be able to cover this expense without my amazing OF team, and even then, it is a struggle. I really really appreciate it. Thank you. x
