Added 2023-06-01 19:07:06 +0000 UTCUPDATE!: after my passport was stolen last year in France, I got a one year temporary passport from the American consul in Marseilles. I have never been back in the states long enough to send it in because they are very behind on passports. It expires in September. I called the state department and explained my situation. They said I could return to France, go back to the consul and get it extended for a year. So. I got to the airport yesterday and I could not check in because there is a law in the EU saying my passport must not expire more than three months after my departure date! If the state department had told me this, I would’ve done things differently! 🙀 even expedited service is taking 7 to 8 weeks! I enclosed a letter, explaining what happened to me. I am going to email my congress person. I had to cancel my flight. It has cost me so much money! 😿! I’ve been a bit busy! 😸
