It's a day when sex workers come together to celebrate each other -- for many of us (myself included) our greatest loves are other whores. It's a day for us to recognize our accomplishments, our dreams, how far we've come. It's also a day we come together to hold each other in our anger towards the violence, the obstacles, the loss, and how much further there is to go. For the most part, you only see the hot, glamorous parts of being a sex worker -- and, truthfully, that is a lot of it, at least for me. But it's important to remember that that is not the whole picture -- the very same hot babes you love to worship on the internet are fighting surveillance, censorship, criminalization, stigma, and other forms of violence every day. I deeply love what I do, and genuinely love sharing it with you -- but that doesn't mean I'm not also fighting for the right to do it more safely. Today I encourage you to donate to sex worker organizations, tip your favorite sex workers, and read about the fight for decriminalization. If you really want to worship us, your awareness and support for our struggle is the best way to do that.
