Just because men don’t REPORT, doesn’t mean those stats couldn’t be potentially higher. I myself have been a victim of domestic violence by a male family member growing up as well as got myself into a similar relationship when I was younger, I still think it is so so so important that there needs to be more done for men. There are so many services out there for women but literally close to nothing for men and I think it is disgraceful. I know so many close male mates that have been a victim of DV and have never reported for reasons such as “it was just one hit”, “she’s a girl they always get custody” (after being repeatedly physically abused with hard evidence) as well as comments like “there’s no point” “I’m a male no one will believe me” and so many more. As a female everywhere I look there’s posters with women on it with slogans like “speak up” “get help” ect but I see nothing for men. Also in behind the door of public toilets I see in pretty much every toilét block I go to something about DV against women but I’ve spoken to mates and they rarely see anything. More needs to be done to help men and I will try my absolute best to help where I can. Also reminders that YOU MATTER when it comes to domestic violence no matter your gender. YOU matter and you have an impact on this world wether you see it or not ✨✨
