Added 2023-08-01 21:06:19 +0000 UTCachieving our country richard rorty started out skeptical, because i find being optimistic about america hard, but he won me over. then he lost me again when he started dick sucking capitalism and the cold war. i disagree that the left needs to hold more space for capitalists. i agree with some of his arguments on WHY it would be helpful, but still i disagree overall. if i were to write about everything i disagree with in this we’d have a text longer than the actual book. i do agree that the left needs more nuance and to let go of it’s obsession with moral purity and i think the relevancy of his ideas have stood the test of time so far. 6/10
